The PTE exam is a 2-hour, computer-based English test that assesses Speaking, Writing, Reading, and Listening skills. The exam consists of three main sections:
Speaking & Writing (54–67 minutes)
Reading (30 minutes)
Listening (30–43 minutes)
Tasks within each section are presented in a set order and are automatically timed.
You’ll receive a score between 10–90 for each skill (Speaking, Writing, Reading, Listening) and an Overall Score. Scoring is fully automated using AI, but with occasional use of human markers for some tasks. PTE Academic is scored automatically based on complex algorithms trained by testing a data sample of over 10,000 students with over 120 native languages—a granular score scales from 10 to 90 to mimic the real PTE scores.
